Hi,
I
recently bought a western saddle pad from you and I thought I’d let you know how it went.
In combination with a very good saddle from Shane Nash the saddle pad was a winner. My old horse,
who had developed the habit of hollowing his back and stepping short from years of bad fitting saddles was stepping out nicely
and was obviously more comfortable. I used the shims to compensate for the hollowing of his back a bit and after half an hour
he was starting to round up and take the weight of the saddle on his back. There was an even sweat pattern when I took
the saddle off and he had no obvious sore spots at the end of the ride or later that day when he had cooled down.
My 2yo gelding has always had pretty good saddles on him but he is still
a bit narrow in the shoulders for my good saddle. I used the shims at the front of the pad to adjust for that and had
exceptional results.
An addition there is clearly a very
desirable cushioning effect from the pad making the ride generally more comfortable for me and for the horses.
I was dubious about ‘yet another expensive saddle pad’ being
the answer for sore backs but the Thinline Sheepskin Western Pad in combination with a Nash Customs Saddles Wade saddle is
the best thing I’ve put on my horses yet. I also have a Winning Edge Half Breed saddle and the pad significantly
improved the ride in that saddle as well.
Cheers,
Mark
